Janine Lawler Turocy, Speech + Language

Welcome to another school year! I am really excited to work with you and your child. I am Janine Tuorcy, the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) at Taft Elementary School. This will be my third year as a SLP in the Youngstown City School District.
Communication is such an important aspect of all our lives. Your child maybe seeing me to improve his/her ability to communicate. Whether it is the use of adequate speech sounds, grammar, vocabulary, or more. Attending speech/language sessions will help your child improve interactions with friends, family, and teachers throughout their life.

I always get asked on how you can help your child improve their communication. Speak positively with your child and try to make any speech or language activity fun. If you have any questions or concerns or would like more suggestions specific to your child’s needs, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to working with you and your child this school year!

Amy Gordijew, English Learners

My name is Amy Gordiejew (most people call me “Ms. G”) and I am excited to be servicing our English Learners this year at Taft. Prior to working at YCSD, I taught ELs at Youngstown State University. I have a big heart for people struggling to learn a new language and experiencing acculturation, having moved to the United States from The Netherlands when I was 10. I hold Masters degrees in both English and American Studies with graduate-level certification in TESOL. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my son and daughter. We especially like to travel, and have recently been to Turkey, Greece, Italy, and the Netherlands.

Feel free to reach out to me at (330) 744-7973 and I will get right back to you!
